The Forum Tobacco Prevention in Health Institutions (FTGS) recommends the specialist course “Nicotine advice and smoking cessation” at the University of Applied Sciences for Health in Bern.

In this college course you will acquire extensive knowledge about tobacco consumption and its consequences and you will be able to work as an expert in this exciting field.

Course content

• acquire comprehensive knowledge about tobacco consumption and its consequences,
• you learn to carry out screening procedures, diagnostics and tests for the treatment of tobacco addiction and to document them,
• As an expert in nicotine counseling, you will be able to apply counseling procedures in smoking cessation on the basis of proven, evidence-based methods (such as the 5 A's) in individual and group settings,
• you will gain knowledge of pharmacological aids and their use in smoking cessation and nicotine counseling.
